Mudra means position or Gesture. The statue depicts him to be in Dhyana Mudra.
Dhyana Mudra is an entirely different and a vast aspect of meditation. It is like obedience. In this Mudra one should keep both the hands in the lap in such a way that it creates a bowl shape.
